This Saturday (Nov 21 at 1pm and 3pm) the UK-based Binchois Consort will make its debut at The Cloisters with a program that marks the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt.
Including the “Agincourt carol,” music written for the coronations of the Lancaster House, and music written by Henry V himself for John of Bridlington (the last Englishman to be canonized before the Reformation), the program portrays a nuanced picture of Henry V and 15c England politically, dynastically, and religiously. The CD of this program has received many awards, including the BBC Magazine and the Gramophone Magazine.
